news: one km from source, river becomes drain |

| Back in the 1970s, Sungai Penchala was good for a refreshing dip. Today, most of it looks like an open sewerstinky and murky. It is a relatively short river, only 12km, starting at Bukit Kiara. It then branches into two, flowing through the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) and Kiara Park in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail. Eventually, the two rejoin and the river flows into the Sungai Klang. In Kiara Park, most of the riverbank is lined with terracotta bricks. The rest has been left open to allow people access to the water. | The river here is just a kilometre from its source, but the water is already muddy and the natural banks eroded. |
