  Capacity Building to Improve Peatland Management and Reduce Land and Forest Fires and Associated Transboundary Haze Pollution in the ASEAN Region

Goal

To strengthen ASEAN’s capacity to reduce peatland and forest fires and associated transboundary haze pollution in the ASEAN region

Objective 

To strengthen the knowledge and capacity of ASEAN Member Countries in addressing gaps in the implementation of the ASEAN Peatland Management Strategy 2006-2020 and ASEAN Agreement on Transboundary Haze Pollution

Project Outputs

Output 1: Project plan prepared

Output 2: Peatland and fire assessments undertaken in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Brunei Darussalam.

Output 3: Development of National Action Plan (NAP) for peatland management in Brunei Darussalam and of finalisation/promotion of NAPs in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam supported.

Output 4: Real‑time peatland fire prediction and monitoring system for the ASEAN region developed.

Output 5: Project Completion Meeting
