Greetings from GEC! We're heading into the final quarter of the year and it's time to start planning for the year ahead! We've had some successes and failures so far this year, but one thing GEC is proud of is our sustained efforts in raising awareness about environmental issues through our outreach work. In October, we will really be focusing our efforts doing just this so do join us on Facebook and Twitter to keep updated on GEC's activities!

Upcoming Highlights

GEC supports 10:10 Selangor!
10:10 and 350.org has teamed up to make the 10th of October 'A global day of doing' for positive climate change action! The Selangor state government has begun its own campaign for this and GEC will be supporting this with a MEGA-tree planting on Saturday 9th October! If you're free, come on out and join us!

GEF NGO Network
The GEF-NGO Network (GNN) plays an important role in enhancing the relationship between NGOs and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and is made up of organizations whose work in environment and sustainable development is aligned with the GEF mandate. Being a member is free and provides your organization access to more resources and opportunities to undertake work more effectively. Read more >>

Sunway U Eco-Charity Drive!
As the finale to the CIMB Islamic Ecosave Account 3R awareness campaign, GEC will be supporting the Sunway U Eco-Charity Drive happening between 5-7 October. Not only will we be helping to raise funds for needy students - we will be making this a GREEN event in partnership with My Khatulistiwa, a green events management company. Read more >>

The month that was...


World Rivers Day fun! GEC celebrated World Rivers Day on 25th September with a Pencala River Habitat Creation & Education Programme at Taman Rimba Kiara, TTDI. Over 150 participants took part in fun river activities such as biomonitoring, river mapping and habitat creation and gave a short presentation on what they did and learned. Read more >>	'Green' SK Sri Kelana! Our very first SMART Ranger school SK Sri Kelana won the State level Sekolah Lestari competitions in Selangor and are currently competing at the National level! They have come a long way and have some great initiatives going at their school like Garbage enzyme production and vermi-composting. Read more >>	EIA Seminar @ UiTM! GEC had the opportunity to speak at the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Seminar that was held at UiTM Puncak Alam on 29th September.
