That's right! We celebrated it again and we did it at two differrent wetlands area - Raja Musa Peat Swamp Forest and Kuala Gula Mangrove Forest.
Celebration of World Wetlands Day at Raja Musa Peat Swamp Forest (better known as Raja Musa Forest Reserve) in Selangor, took off with a great start with the lauching of two community-based initiatives in peatland forest rehabilitation - Sahabat Hutan Gambut and the Peatland Forest Ranger programme. Not only we managed to get 250 people to celebrate the day, but also we managed to get local medias to talk about it. Check out the media articles published by clicking here.
In Kuala Gula, Perak, Friends of Mangrove (a community based organisation) and students planted about 500 mangrove seedlings to commenmorate the World Wetlands Day 2012. Read more on the media article published.

GEC and FedEx Malaysia helped S.M.A.R.T Ranger students to get smart about waste footprint
A waste management and waste footprint training was held on 22nd March 2012 in conjunction with World Water Day 2012 at SK Sri Kelana, Kelana Jaya, Selangor. About 100 students participated in the training and were thought on how to audit waste, manage waste, calculate carbon emission derived from waste and how to offset the emission through planting. The half day training was assisted by FedEx Malaysia's staff who volunteered their time to help the students with the activities. In addition, FedEx Malaysia also donated RM25,000 to GEC to support our work on protection of environment. Click here to view the photos.
